Now, let’s dive into Genesis 1, the very beginning of God’s creation story…”

Genesis, the first book of the Bible, written by Moses through God’s inspiration, doesn’t just explain how the world began—it reveals Who began it all. A Creator who brings order out of chaos, light out of darkness, and meaning out of nothing.

Introduction (Genesis 1:1–2)
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. At first, the earth was empty and dark, but God’s Spirit was moving over the waters.

Day 1 – Light (Genesis 1:3–5)
God said, “Let there be light!” And light appeared. He called the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.” Evening passed, morning came—the very first day.
From nothing, light breaks through. But God wasn’t done yet.

Day 2 – Sky (Genesis 1:6–8)
God said, “Let there be a space to separate the waters.” And He made the sky. Evening passed, morning came—the second day.

Day 3 – Land and Plants (Genesis 1:9–13)
God said, “Let the waters gather so dry land appears.” It happened just like that. He called the land “Earth,” and the waters “Seas.” Then God said, “Let the land grow plants and trees that produce seeds and fruit.” And it was so. Evening passed, morning came—the third day.

Day 4 – Sun, Moon, and Stars (Genesis 1:14–19)
God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to mark days, seasons, and years.” He made the sun to rule the day, the moon to rule the night—and He also made the stars. God saw it was good. Evening passed, morning came—the fourth day.
The stage was set. But creation was about to come alive.

Day 5 – Fish and Birds (Genesis 1:20–23)
God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and the skies fill with birds.” So He created every kind of sea creature and bird, blessing them to multiply. Evening passed, morning came—the fifth day.

Day 6 – Animals and Humans (Genesis 1:24–31)
God said, “Let the earth produce animals of every kind.” And it was so. He saw it was good.
Then came the most important moment:
God said, “Let Us make human beings in Our image, to be like Us.”
So God created people—male and female—in His own image.
He blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth, rule over it, care for every creature.” God gave them plants and trees for food, and He looked over all He had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening passed, morning came—the sixth day.

Day 7 – Rest (Genesis 2:1–3)
So the heavens and the earth were completed. On the seventh day, God rested from His work. He blessed that day and made it holy.

KEY VERSE:
Genesis 1:27 – “So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”
You are not an accident. You are made in the very image of God.

LET’S REFLECT:
Genesis 1 reveals a God who speaks life where there is none, and order where there is chaos. The same God who formed galaxies can bring peace, direction, and hope into your life today.

SAY WITH ME:
“I am created in the image of God. I am loved, chosen, and made with purpose. Everything God makes is good—including me.”

SAY WITH ME ONCE MORE:
“I am created in the image of God. I am loved, chosen, and made with purpose. Everything God makes is good—including me.”

HOW TO APPLY THIS:
• Begin your day remembering: God is in control from the start.
• Treat every person with respect—they are God’s image-bearers too.
• Make time to rest, not just to recharge, but to honor God who rested on the seventh day.

TIME TO THINK:
If God could create the universe with just His words, what new thing might He want to speak into your life today?

QUESTION FOR YOU:
Which part of creation speaks to you most—light on Day 1, the Stars on Day 4, or Humanity on Day 6? Share your answer in the Comments section—We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Genesis 1 shows us we are not random accidents—we are God’s masterpiece. And the story is just getting started. Remember: you are made with purpose, loved, and part of God’s story. In Genesis 2, God forms humanity with His own hands and breathes His very breath into us. Don’t miss it.
