We begin reading from Exodus 15:22-27

22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the Wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

23 Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25 So he cried to the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, which when he cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there He made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there He tested them,

26 And said, If you will diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD who heals you.

27 Then they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and seventy palm-trees; and they encamped there by the waters.

And this is the Word of God.

God can turn bitter waters into sweet waters—He is the God who heals and restores.

Life often feels like the wilderness of Shur—dry, exhausting, and without answers. Just like Israel thirsted for water, we too face seasons of bitterness at “Marah.” But God showed Moses a tree that turned bitter water sweet. This points us to the cross of Christ, the tree that transforms bitterness into healing and hope.

God’s promise is clear: “I am the LORD that heals you.” (Exodus 15:26)

He not only refreshes us today but leads us to our Elim—our place of abundance, peace, and rest.

When your life journey becomes difficult, put your trust in the Lord. The same God who sweetened the waters at Marah will bring you to Elim, overflowing with His goodness.
