BIBLE BOOK CHAPTER VERSE: Genesis 7 | The Flood Comes | God’s Judgment and Mercy

Genesis 7 continues the story of Noah and the ark. God’s judgment comes upon a corrupt and violent world, yet His mercy preserves Noah, his family, and representatives of every living creature. This chapter reminds us of God’s justice, faithfulness, and the importance of obedience.

Hi everyone, and welcome to **Bible Book Chapter Verse**! Here, we explore every chapter of God’s Word, verse by verse, helping you see the beauty, meaning, and purpose behind the Scriptures.

Whether you are new to the Bible or a longtime student, our mission is simple: to make God’s Word accessible, inspiring, and applicable to your everyday life.

Now, let’s dive into **Genesis 7**, where judgment falls, obedience saves, and God shows both His justice and mercy.

    ### **The Command to Enter the Ark (Genesis 7:1–5)**

The Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen righteous before Me in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of every clean animal, a pair of every unclean animal, and seven pairs of every bird to keep their species alive on the earth. For in seven days I will send rain upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. And every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the earth.”

**Reflection:** Obedience is key. Noah didn’t question, he prepared exactly as God commanded.

    ### **Noah Enters the Ark (Genesis 7:6–10)**

Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters came. Noah, his family, and the animals entered the ark, just as God had commanded.

**Reflection:** Faith is shown not in words, but in action. Noah’s trust saved him and his family.

    ### **The Flood Begins (Genesis 7:11–16)**

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month, all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the windows of heaven were opened. Rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

The waters increased greatly, lifting the ark high above the earth, and all flesh outside the ark perished. Every man, beast, creeping thing, and bird that had the breath of life in them died. Only Noah and those with him in the ark remained alive.

**Reflection:** God’s judgment is serious, yet precise. He spares those who follow Him.

    ### **The Flood Covers the Earth (Genesis 7:17–24)**

The waters prevailed on the earth for 150 days. The ark floated on the surface of the waters. The mountains were covered, and all living things outside the ark perished.

**Reflection:** God’s justice cannot be escaped, but His mercy provides a way of salvation.

    ### **KEY VERSE**

**Genesis 7:1** – *“Come into the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen righteous before Me in this generation.”*
➡️ Obedience and faith in God’s commands bring life and protection, even amid judgment.

    ### **LET’S REFLECT**

Genesis 7 teaches us that God’s justice is real, but His mercy is available to those who trust and obey Him. Like Noah, we are called to listen, trust, and act in obedience to God’s Word.

    ### **SAY WITH ME**

“I will trust God’s Word and obey His commands, even when it’s hard or uncertain.”

    ### **SAY WITH ME ONCE MORE**

“I will trust God’s Word and obey His commands, even when it’s hard or uncertain.”

    ### **HOW TO APPLY THIS**

    * Examine areas in your life where God is calling you to trust and obey.
    * Remember that obedience often precedes blessing and protection.
    * Share God’s Word with others so they too can be guided by His mercy.

    ### **TIME TO THINK**

If God provided a way to save Noah and his family in a world filled with corruption, how can you trust Him in situations that feel overwhelming or impossible today?

    ### **QUESTION FOR YOU**

Which part of Genesis 7 speaks most to you—the obedience of Noah, the coming judgment, or God’s provision of safety? Share your thoughts in the comments—we’d love to hear them.
